Amira is a current medical student with 6+ years of tutoring experience in a wide variety of STEM and premed courses and enjoys working with students of diverse backgrounds and age groups . She specializes in standardized testing instruction and has consistently scored 99th percentile on all tests she has taken so far, a feat she is dedicated to helping her students achieve as well. With her fluency in 5 different languages, she is also a polyglot with extensive experience working with ESL students across the world on English-based standardized testing. Having taken the MCAT^® in the middle of a 20 credit university semester, while simultaneously taking graduate level Honors Program courses, participating in research, running the university’s Book and Writing club, and volunteering in her campus’s Emergency Response Unit, she is a pro at time management. With only little over a month to study for her MCAT^® , she still obtained a 522 score while also graduating Summa Cum Laude and receiving many full ride scholarships to medical schools around the world, so she knows exactly how to help students maximize their time and deliver high impact sessions that guarantee score improvements. She credits her success to time spent learning about the MCAT^® exam itself to obtain a thorough understanding and familiarity with its design, types of questions and best strategies, eventually allowing her to view questions from the perspective of the test makers themselves. Besides this, her diverse and wide ranging interests helped her achieve well-balanced scores across all the MCAT^® questions including an impressive 132 in P/S and 131 In B/B. For one, her background in cell biology and epigenetics research combined with experience writing, reviewing and critiquing papers offered her perspectives that helped her ace complex experiment based biology MCAT^® passages. Similarly, her literature studies and love for creative writing were a major help in decoding long-winded CARS excerpts. She prides herself on helping her students capitalize on their own interests and strengths to transform them into MCAT testing academic weapons as well! Most importantly though, she knows just how emotional and stressful the path towards a good MCAT^® score can be. Always invested in her students’ entire journeys, she takes a holistic approach to tutoring beyond simple course instruction and enjoys motivating them, discussing their concerns and celebrating their successes with them. In her free time, she enjoys playing piano or guitar, brushing up on her language skills, as well as writing poetry or book plots, and is passionate about providing quality open access education through her work with child refugees. She likes reminding her students of the importance of finding their own “breaths of fresh air” during their study journey to remain at the top of their game.
